NON-SURGICAL PERIODONTAL THERAPY

At Bay Dental, we offer non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) to our patients who need a slightly more thorough gum treatment than routine cleaning appointments.

Non-surgical periodontal therapy may be necessary for patients with periodontal disease (which affects the gum and bone), or for those with a severe case of gingivitis (which affects the gums but not the bone). These patients require a deep cleaning to restore health to the gums and ligaments surrounding the teeth, this treatment is completed by a dental hygienist. Prior to commencing treatment, the patient will be fully educated on the procedure and the patient’s oral condition will be explained.

Non-surgical periodontal therapy diminishes plaque and calculus by managing the growth of hazardous germs and treating conditions that promote periodontal disease. This type of treatment may be all that’s needed, especially when symptoms are caught early, but additional treatments may be necessary. We will work with you to create a customized treatment plan, based on your specific needs

Treatment generally is spread out over time as the effectiveness of a procedure needs to be assessed before the next procedure takes place. Generally, your condition will be reassessed at each appointment and joint decisions will be made about your treatment plan.

“Dr Maycher has been my dentist for almost a year now, he’s been very accommodating and I would highly recommend him to others! He carefully explains procedures before and during so I know exactly what goes on. I had an small emergency and he was able to take me in although his shift had ended. Thank you and everyone else at Bay Dental for being so accommodating and amazing :)”
